What is your real level?

A short adaptive test that places you on the CEFR scale, from A1 to C2. Around 10 to 30 questions depending on how far you get, about 5 minutes.

What the CEFR levels mean

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages sorts ability into six levels, from A1 (beginner) to C2 (mastery). It is the scale used by schools, employers and official certificates across Europe and beyond.

Questions about the test

How accurate is this test?

It measures reading grammar and vocabulary only, so treat it as a solid estimate rather than a certificate. Speaking and listening are not tested here.

How long does it take?

Between two and eight minutes. The test stops as soon as the questions get too hard for you, so beginners answer far fewer questions.

Do I need an account?

No. The test is free, requires no signup and no email, and your result appears immediately.

Is it an official certificate?

No. Official CEFR certification comes from accredited exam bodies. This test is a free self-assessment.
