Swedish A1 Reading Practice: My Morning
A morning routine uses the same verbs every single day, which makes it the ideal first Swedish text to read without a dictionary.
Min morgon
Jag går upp klockan sju. Jag duschar och klär på mig.
I köket gör jag en kopp kaffe. Jag äter smörgås med ost. Min dotter kommer. Hon dricker juice och letar efter sin väska.
Kvart i åtta går vi ut. Skolan ligger nära huset. Vi promenerar i tio minuter.
Sedan tar jag bussen till jobbet. På morgonen är bussen full. Jag lyssnar på musik och tittar på staden.
English translation
I get up at seven o'clock. I shower and get dressed.
In the kitchen I make a cup of coffee. I eat a sandwich with cheese. My daughter comes. She drinks juice and looks for her bag.
At a quarter to eight we go out. The school is near the house. We walk for ten minutes.
Then I take the bus to work. In the morning the bus is full. I listen to music and look at the city.
Why this is A1
Only present-tense verbs appear, and each sentence describes one visible action. The text introduces clock time and simple prepositions of place, exactly what an A1 learner needs to describe their own day.
